Woodstock 99 Review

Is Anyone Out There?

Doug's journeys is back with a look at music in upstate New York. First of all I have some still photos from Woodstock 99 via TV from Rome. The way I see it we had three days of peace, music and chaos with corporate profit. The better music wasn't long enough for my taste. Most of it was metal Mush. Here's a few pictures of Counting Crows they look solid, with a strong sound, as usual. I think my camera caught the surrealism of the show. Hippie pop culture should have a certain look.

Crows

Next we have Jewel, who is pretty, sincere, sweet, etc.. Its hard to say anything bad about her. This is one of the first venues, where she is playing an electric guitar.

Her passion in this concert was powerful with her allure causing a meltdown. (She has that affect). Checkout these expressions she has with an occasional flirt. The audience is hers!

On the last song of the set and with a final note she embraces the crowd with a wink as if to say This is Woodstock for fun not like the first one. (Don't get deep).

Who can forget Brian Setzer the Rockabilly King. He looks tense, but when you play that style of guitar it kind of goes with the territory. The man literally washes his hands ten times a day so his fingers can grip the strings. Its no sweat for Brian. He is an ace guitarist with a knockout horn section that cant be beat.

I don't have pictures of Dave Matthews and Elvis Costello. Costello's What's So Funny bout Peace, Love and Understanding was played with intensity but I don't think anyone got the message.

Thanks for looking at Doug's Journeys

Ps. the best seat for these things is in your living room. (Its safer)
